Why do Company Credit Reports have an expiry date and Company Documents don’t?

Company Credit Reports expire after one year whilst Company Documents don’t have an expiry date

Good question. If you are an existing Company Searches Made Simple customer, you may have noticed that when you’re logged into your account, Company Credit Reports have an expiry date whilst Company Documents do not:

Why is this?

Because Company Credit Reports are static once they have been purchased, any changes that happen to a company after a report has been purchased on it are not reflected in the report. To ensure that your account does not have completely outdated reports in it, we remove them after one year. Company Documents on the other hand do not date. They will always reflect a particular action in a company’s lifetime.

Lost your Certificate of Incorporation or Memorandum & Articles? Let us help.

There’s no need to panic if you’ve misplaced company documentation (don’t worry – it happens to the best of us), we can provide you with copies for just £2.50 plus VAT per document! Here’s how to find company documents for your company and other companies too:

1. Enter the company name and hit Search from our homepage

2. Select View Details next to the correct company

3. A list of company documents will load up on the Company Details page – simply select Add to Basket next to the document that you want and proceed to make the purchase, the document will then be delivered to your account


We can provide the following company documents, provided they have previously been filed with Companies House:

• Certificate of Incorporation (shown as New Incorporation documents)
• Memorandum & Articles (also part of New Incorporation documents)
• Annual returns
• Annual accounts
• Officer appointments /resignations
• Officer edits
• Change of accounting reference date
• Addition of shares
• Change of registered office

What format are Company Documents in?

Company documents are delivered as PDFs

All of our Company Documents (available for just £2.50 plus VAT) are delivered to you as PDFs. This means that you can easily:

• Print them
• Save them to your computer
• Email them

Once purchased, you can download the documents (as PDFs) from the My Documents area of your account. Company Documents will always remain in your account as they do not have an expiry date.

To view PDFs you will require Adobe Reader.

Can I purchase Company Search services for dissolved companies?

Do we provide search services on dissolved companies? Yes we do!

We can provide company reports and company documents for UK limited companies that have been dissolved. To purchase these services:

1. Select Advanced Search + from our homepage
2. Enter the company name and any other information that you have
3. Tick the Include Dissolved box
4. Select View Details next to the relevant company and proceed to purchase the service that you want

Here’s how it works…

We add a set number of credits to your account; these must then be used within a set period of time (monthly or yearly depending on the package).

1 credit = 1 product

This could mean:

• 1 Fully Comprehensive Company Report
• 1 Director Report
• 1 Company Document
• 1 Lifetime Company Tracker

It’s totally up you. The only thing that you can’t spend your credits on is another Subscription Package!

I’ve lost my company’s certificate of incorporation

Don’t worry if you’ve lost your company’s certificate of incorporation; we can help

Don’t worry, it happens. If you have lost your limited company’s certificate of incorporation, we can provide you with a copy of it for just £2.50 plus VAT.

All you need to do is search for your company from our homepage, click on your company name and then wait for the list of documents to load. Then simply pop the “New Incorporation documents” into your basket and complete the purchase.

Once bought, all documents are stored in the “My Documents” area of your account.
